A gathering of residents assembled at Bramfield’s elegantly re-thatched bus shelter for an informal ‘unveiling’ ceremony of a commemorative plaque which reads:
“This Bus Shelter was erected in 1951 to celebrate the Festival of Britain. It was re-thatched in 2019 by Master Thatchers Dominic Meek, Luke Green and Christopher Hepworth. Bramfield & Thorington Parish Council and Suffolk Coastal District Council funded the work and the shelter was formally opened by Local Historian June Brereton at a small ceremony on July 6th 2019”.
Bramfield & Thorington’s Parish Council Chairman, Anne Thomas, added “We were delighted with how Dominic, Chris and Luke have thatched our lovely bus shelter, which continues to give us good service. We’ve had many enthusiastic comments, including one from staff at Leicester City Council who happened to spot our treasure on their travels. We are very grateful to our District Council and Parish Council for their funding.
